Privacy Policy

BallisticVector ("we", "us", or "the app") is a ballistic trajectory calculator for precision long-range shooters, available on the web and as native iOS and Android applications. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. By creating an account or using BallisticVector, you agree to the practices described below.

Information You Provide

• Account information. When you register, we collect a username, first name, last name, email address, and a password (stored only as a salted hash — we never store your password in plain text).
• Ballistic data. Rifle and projectile profiles, environmental inputs, and the firing solutions you calculate.
• DOPE logs. Shot records you choose to save, including distance, elevation/windage, hit/miss/test results, and any notes you add.

Information Collected Automatically

• Location (optional). If you use the "live weather" feature, the app requests your device location to fetch local atmospheric conditions. Coordinates are sent only to retrieve weather data and are not stored or used for tracking. You can decline this permission and enter environmental values manually instead.
• Authentication token. A session token is stored on your device to keep you signed in. It is removed when you log out.

How We Use Your Information

• To provide and operate the calculator, profiles, and DOPE logging features.
• To authenticate you and keep your account secure.
• To save your profiles, settings, and shot history so they are available across sessions.

Third-Party Services

BallisticVector uses the Open-Meteo weather API to provide live atmospheric data when you request it. When you use that feature, your approximate location coordinates are sent to Open-Meteo solely to return current weather. We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with advertisers or data brokers.

Data Storage and Security

Your data is stored on our server and protected with industry-standard measures, including hashed passwords and encrypted (HTTPS/TLS) connections between the app and our server. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we take reasonable steps to protect your information.

Data Retention and Deletion

We retain your account and associated data for as long as your account is active. You may request deletion of your account and all associated profiles and DOPE logs at any time by contacting us at the email below; we will remove your data within a reasonable period.

Children's Privacy

BallisticVector is intended for adults and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the "Last updated" date at the top of this page.
